Property Information
Once you are ready to book a property you can contact us for more specific information. We have inventory list available and more detailed information about the property that we may not have posted on the web site. We will provide you directions to the property once you have given us a deposit and your personal information.
Payment Information
Personal checks are welcomed for payments made more than 30 days prior to your arrival. Payments made within 30 days of your arrival must be by cashier’s check, money order or credit card. Visa and MasterCard are accepted. At this time all credit card payments must be made over the phone, we are not able to take payment through the site. If a credit card is used, the name on the credit card must be the same as the name on the Vacation Rental Agreement. All security deposits will be refunded by check from Vacation Mackinac and will be returned within 30 days of your departure date if no damages are found.
Initial Payment
30% of the base rent must be received by Vacation Mackinac at the time of booking. If paying by other means than credit card, payment must be received by agent within 7 days of booking or the reservation will be cancelled. We will mail, fax or email a lease for you to sign and return with a personal check, cashiers check or money order, if not paying by credit card. Please call or email in case of delay or questions.**Exception: Reservations made within 30 days of arrival must be paid in full at the time of booking and all monies paid are non-refundable at that time.
Balance Due
The unpaid balance of the base rent plus taxes and all other charges are due 60 days prior to check-in. Personal checks are not accepted within 30 days of arrival.
Rental Rates
The weekly base rate (without taxes & cleaning fee)and refundable security deposit are listed in the description of each home. If no security deposit amount is listed the deposit is $250.00. All homes have a non-refundable cleaning fee of $100.00
Seasonal Date Ranges
Seasonal date ranges for each property are outlined in their description. However, due to spacing limitations, rates for every available week in some homes cannot be listed. If you are looking for a particular date and are unsure of the rate, please contact us and we will be happy to help you.
Partial-Week Rentals
Some homes accept partial-week rentals (3 night minimum). A “3 Night” rate is indicated where applicable. These reservations cannot be booked until 7 days prior to the check-in date and may not be available during peak seasons. Please contact our office to make arrangements and reservations. Full balance is due at the time of reservation.
Cancellations
For a full refund of monies (less $150.00 processing fee), cancellations must be in writing and received 60 days prior to arrival date. Any cancellation after that will result in a forfeiture of your deposit. No refunds will be given for early check-outs or no-shows.
Check-In
Check-In time is 4:00pm. All efforts are made to have homes ready by check-in time, but we cannot guarantee the exact time of occupancy due to unforeseen circumstances. Housekeeping and all maintenance personnel must provide services between occupancies for every home.
Check-Out
Check-Out time is 10:00am. 10:00 am is check-out time for all homes. If for some reason you need to extend your check-out time and the unit is not booked, we have a special one-half day charge. Arrangements must be made in advance for this extension. Keys should be left in the home when you leave.
Housekeeping and Maintenance
All homes are cleaned between check-out and check-in. If the home is not cleaned to your satisfaction when you check-in, or if something in the home is not working properly, please call us to report the problem immediately. Each year prior to the rental season, homes are inspected for supplies and maintenance needs, however breakdowns and oversights can and do occur.
The maximum capacity indicated on your lease agreement is the established legal limit and must be adhered to. No campers, mobile homes or tents may be placed at the home for additional sleeping space. In cases where the advertised occupancy is exceeded, we reserve the right to deny access or to have the premises vacated with no refund of rent.
Guest Behavior
Vacation Mackinac reserves the right to terminate a lease as the result of tenant abuse of staff, neighbors or others.
Non-smoking Homes
Please respect the wishes of homeowners and guest and do not smoke in homes designated as non-smoking homes.
Telephone Services
Some homes are equipped for local service only and may have a long distance block. Options for placing long distance calls are calling cards or pre-paid phone cards. Any unauthorized long distance charges to the telephone will be billed to the tenant with a $5.00 service fee added for each call. Most homes, however, do not have any phone service at all. All guest are encouraged to bring cell phones, although coverage in some areas is minimal.
Pets
Pets are not permitted unless specified otherwise in the description. Arrangements can be made for some homes on a case by case basis. A violation of this policy is cause of termination of tenancy.
Water
Most of our homes have private wells and with private well you may experience low pressure, distasteful or discolored water. There may be an unpleasant sulfur odor. Private well water may discolor clothing. Some guest choose to use bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes. Please ask about the water supply if this a concern.
Construction Noise
Vacation Mackinac cannot predict construction plans in the area. You may reserve a home at a time when there is no construction in progress nearby, but construction could begin prior to your arrival. We regret any inconvenience that may result, but have no control in these situations and are not able to facilitate relocation or refunds.
Items Left Behind
Owners or Owner’s Agents are not responsible for lost, stolen or items left behind. Vacation Mackinac will try to locate items reported as left behind and, if found, return them C.O.D. and will not be responsible for damage or loss during shipping.
Keys
You will receive two sets of keys upon arrival. As these are privately owned properties, you are responsible for lost keys. The unit must be re-keyed in the event that keys are lost, misplaced or not returned. The guest will be responsible for the cost of this procedure and new locksets.
